Annabeth Marks is an artist based in New York City. She received her MFA in painting from the Milton Avery Graduate School of the Arts at Bard College and her BFA from Rhode Island School of Design. Marks has exhibited internationally in galleries and museums including, MoMa PS1, Whitney Musey, White Columns, CANADA, and Rachel Uffner in New York City, Aetopoulous Gallery in Athens, Greece, and Overduin and Co in Los Angeles. Working with fragmentation and collage, Marks paints on loose sheets of canvas that are then cut, reassembled, and further painted on. Similarly the garment pieces employ both construction and deconstruction as a means of making. Painting fragments migrate between forms, lending a sense of mobility to her work. Marks builds image and pictorial space using color as the structure.
